We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our revamped open water coaching program at Salford Watesports Centre! As the weather warms up and the main open water is running, we’ve tailored a series of sessions designed to cater to every level of swimmer, from beginners taking their first strokes in open water to seasoned athletes prepping for their next big race.

What’s New? Our program now includes a variety of specialised sessions. Whether you’re looking to build foundational skills, fine-tune your race techniques, or just want to improve your fitness, we have something for you.

Weekly Sessions Available 

  • Intro to Open Water Swimming: Available every Tuesday Evening & Sunday Morning this introductory session is perfect for newcomers or those needing a refresher. It focuses on the essential skills necessary for safety and enjoyment in open water, such as understanding water dynamics and basic navigation.
  • Bespoke 1-1 or 2-1 Coaching: Also available every Tuesday Evening & Sunday Morning these sessions offer tailored coaching to meet individual or duo swimmers’ specific goals. Whether you’re refining your technique, increasing endurance, or preparing for an event, personalised guidance will help you achieve your open water aspirations.

NEW – Rotating Specialty Sessions: 

  • Event Preparation Workshop: Tailored for swimmers aiming to compete / take part in an event, this workshop covers specific strategies, including pacing, turning at buoys, and energy conservation through drafting.
  • Open Water Skills Workshop: Enhances your open water swimming techniques, particularly the front crawl, with a focus on efficiency, sighting, and adapting strokes for natural water environments.
  • Open Water Fitness Session: Combining endurance training with open water skills practice, designed to improve both fitness and swimming technique.
  • Breaststroke to Front Crawl Workshop: Perfect for swimmers looking to transition from breaststroke to front crawl, focusing on technique adjustments, breathing patterns, and stroke efficiency.

This rotation ensures that every swimmer has the opportunity to explore different aspects of open water swimming and continually challenge themselves in new ways.

Join Our Community We swim three times a week at Salford Watersports Centre throughout the main swim season from May to September. Our sessions run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.
