We’re excited to announce that on Sunday, July 30th, we’ll be running an Open Water Swimming Open Evening!

On Sundays, we usually swim in the morning, but this week there will be no morning swim due to the annual Biathlon taking place in our dock; it’s also the day of the Salford Triathlon. Rather than having no swim, we have decided to run a special one-off swim in the evening to thank those that already swim with us and also welcome any newbies to the dock!

There will be a general swim running from 18:00–20:00, and Coach Lucy from Swimming Matters will be running some fantastic coaching sessions from 17:30. All sessions will be half price, and there will also be some snacks and a chance to win some cool prizes!

There’s no better time to start your open-water journey. With the water temperature hovering around 20 degrees, now is the time to escape the pool and experience the open water during the warmer temperatures before it starts to decline from September onwards. You might be considering taking part in an event next year, such as a distance swim or a triathlon. If so, we strongly recommend starting your preparation early. Often, we get swimmers coming in April or May for the first time, with their event a few weeks away, and they can struggle in colder temperatures.

All participants must be able to swim and comfortable in water.

All sessions are booked online using the ‘Book Now’ button and choose the open water open evening category. Please ensure you read all the pre-requisites and our Open Water Swimming Safety Guide before you book. After you have booked, you will be asked to complete a disclaimer and questionnaire, which must be completed. Please ensure you do this before you arrive. If you are booking for yourself and other people, you need to click that you are participating and ensure you have their email address and mobile number; on your email confirmation, it will ask you to ‘Invite’ participants. When you click that, it will ask for the other person’s name, email, and mobile number; once you have filled their information in, they will be sent the same forms to complete.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via WatesportsCenter@Scll.co.uk, or you can join our dedicated open water page on Facebook.
