We’re running an exciting programme of watersports sessions and courses during the school holidays, designed to keep young people active, learning and having fun.

Whether they’re trying something new or building on their skills, our sessions are a great way to grow confidence, make friends and enjoy the outdoors, all in a safe, supportive environment led by qualified instructors.

Family Activities

SUP & Kayak Hire
Enjoy a fun and flexible way to experience the water with our Stand Up Paddleboard and Kayak hire sessions. Available every weekend, Wednesdays, Friday evenings, and daily during school holidays. No experience needed! Learn more here.

Bespoke Group Activities for Family & Friends
Customise your experience with a bespoke group activity session for family and friends. Enjoy a fun and engaging day on the water, tailored to your group’s interests and skill levels.  (Info Coming soon – email watersportscentre@scll.co.uk)

Courses for Youths (Ages 8-16)

Multi Activity Week
Join us for a week of adventure and excitement with our Multi Activity Week. Participants will engage in a variety of watersports, including kayaking, paddleboarding, and raft building, guided by our expert instructors. Learn more here.

RYA Youth Sailing Stage 1
Start your sailing journey with our RYA Youth Sailing Stage 1 course. Learn the basics of sailing, boat handling, and safety in a supportive and fun environment. Learn more here.

RYA Youth Sailing Stage 2

RYA Powerboat Level 1 
Dive into the exciting world of Powerboating with our RYA Powerboat Level 1 course. Learn the fundamentals of Powerboat driving, including steering, and safety.

Rookie Lifeguard Course+
Develop lifesaving skills and gain valuable knowledge with our Rookie Lifeguard Course. This course is perfect for those interested in water safety and rescue techniques. Included in this course will be 2 Rookie Bolt On Awards: First Aid and Paddleboarding.

Summer Courses FAQ's

Clothing on session:

  • Swim wear to wear under a wetsuit (For Rookie – please see individual page)
  • Shoes that can get wet (Old Trainers / Closed toe shoes / No flip flops or sliders)

Other:

  • Personal medication that is needed
  • Drinks / light Snack (Half Day Activities)
  • Packed Lunch & Drinks (Full Day Activities)
  • Towel
  • Plastic bag to hold wet kit
  • £1 coin for a locker
  • Glasses strap if you wear them!
  • Warm clothing to get changed into after your session
  • Suncream

All holiday courses are inclusive of changing and briefing time.

So please arrive around 5-10 minutes before the start time, your instructor will meet you at the start time, outside the centre’s front doors.

Participants will come off the water around 20 minutes before the session finish time to allow for changing, therefore please ensure that pick up has been arranged for the advertised session end time.

Participants will need to be signed in and out of the session, we need prior parental/guardian notice before the session if the participant will be arriving / leaving by themselves. This information will need to be either written into the questionnaire that is filled in during the booking process, or emailed to watersportscentre@scll.co.uk.

Salford Watersports Centre is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all participants. To ensure the well-being of everyone and promote a positive experience, we have established a code of conduct. By booking on to a session/course or attending the centre, you are agreeing to this code of conduct.

If anyone breaks this code, we will remove them from the session and no refunds will be made.

  • All participants must be able to swim at least 25m and be comfortable in water. Whilst they don’t need to be the best swimmer, they need to be comfortable swimming and in /around water.
  • Please see age requirements for each activity – if we suspect that a child is under age, then we will ask you to provide a passport / birth certificate. This is for the safety of your child.

For all youth activity courses/sessions, there is a strict 7 day cancellation policy.

If you cancel within 7 days of the course/session starting then there will be no refunds or transfers.

Illness/medical cancellations – If you can provide a medical note from a GP – we will refund up to 50% of the course provided that the course hasn’t started. Once the course/session has started then there will be no refunds.

In the rare event that we have to cancel, we will offer you a full refund or offer an alternative option if one is available.
