Advance your sailing skills with the second stage of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. This course is perfect for those aged 8 and up who have completed Stage 1 and are ready to take the next step. Join us for two days of fun and learning this summer!

  • Practical Learning: You’ll learn to better control the direction and speed of your boat, enhancing your competence in light and moderate wind conditions.
  • Expert Instruction: Tuition takes place in single-handed boats under the supervision of fully qualified RYA instructors.

Course Content

  • Basic Sailing Skills: Refining the fundamentals to ensure you can sail safely and efficiently.
  • Tacking: Mastering the manoeuvre to change direction efficiently.
  • Boat Speed Control: Learning how to manage and adjust your boat’s speed under varying conditions.
  • Ropework: Understanding and applying essential knots and rope techniques.
  • Collision Avoidance: Techniques to ensure safety and prevent accidents on the water.

Course Information

  • Shorts/T-shirt to go under a wetsuit. Feel free to bring your own wetsuit if you have one.
  • Appropriate footwear: Must be closed toe shoes that are non slip or trainers that you don’t mind getting wet. (No flip flops or sliders)
  • Packed lunch, drinks and extra snacks
  • Suncream
  • Towel
  • A bag for your wet kit
  • Warm/waterproof clothing, if the weather is cold, wet or windy.
  • £1 coin for your locker (No change is available at the centre)

For all summer activity courses/sessions, there is a strict 7 day cancellation policy. If you cancel within 7 days of the course/session starting then there will be no refunds or transfers.

Illness/medical cancellations – If you can provide a medical note from a GP – we will refund up to 50% of the course provided that the course hasn’t started. Once the course/session has started then there will be no refunds.

In the rare event that we have to cancel, we will offer you a full refund or offer an alternative option if one is available.
