Sessions are led by Coach Lucy, an experienced open water coach, who will guide you in a friendly and supportive environment.

Sessions are available to book now for May and early June, with more dates to follow soon.

Here is what you can get involved with:

Intro to Open Water Swimming

If you are curious about Open Water Swimming or want to extend your open water season, this session is a brilliant place to start. You will learn how your body responds to colder temperatures, how to acclimatise safely, and what kit you need. Wetsuit hire is included free of charge if you need it.

There will be a chance to practice everything you learn in a supportive environment, with plenty of time in the water.

When:
Every Sunday 10:45 – 11:30
Every Tuesday 19:15 (starting 14th May)

Bespoke 1-1 or 2-1 Open Water Coaching

If you prefer a more personalised approach, our bespoke coaching sessions are a great choice. Each 30-minute session is tailored completely around your goals – whether that is technique work, event preparation, or building confidence.

Bring a friend if you like – it is the same price for two swimmers.

When:
Every Sunday 09:15 – 09:45 and 11:30 – 12:00
Tuesdays 18:00 – 18:30 (starting 14th May)

You will leave feeling more confident and better prepared to take on your event.

When:
Sunday 1st June 09:45 – 10:30

FAQ

Wetsuits are optional for most sessions. For the Intro to Cold Water Swimming, we offer free wetsuit hire if you need one. For other sessions, you are welcome to swim in a wetsuit or swimwear, depending on your preference and experience. We also have swim wetsuits available to hire on site for £10.

If you are new to open water swimming, we recommend starting with the Intro to Open Water Swimming session or booking a 1-1 coaching session. These are tailored to help beginners build confidence and learn essential skills in a supportive environment./

The Intro To Open Water also includes use of a wetsuit, so this is perfect for those who would like to try it without committing to purchasing any extra gear.

You can book online through our website. Simply click the ‘Book Now’ button and find the session you want, select your date and time, and complete the booking form. If you need any help choosing the right session, feel free to contact our team via watersportscentre@scll.co.uk.

We recommend bringing a swimsuit, towel, warm clothes for after your swim, and a swimming cap. If you are using your own wetsuit, please bring it along. Goggles are also useful for most sessions, especially for skills workshops. In the cooler months (April – May) we recommend bringing neoprene gloves and socks too!

We have gloves, goggles, hats and goggles available to purchase on site.

We swim in most conditions, but if the weather is unsafe (such as thunderstorms or very strong winds), we may need to postpone or cancel the session. We will always contact you as soon as possible if there are any changes.

Yes, but we ask that you give as much notice as possible if you need to change or cancel. If the change or cancellation is within our cancellation period (72hrs) then we will not be able to move or refund your booking.

Full details of our cancellation policy are available at the time of booking.
