We are excited to launch our new Sailing in the community project, for community groups, clubs, and charities operating in the Ordsall & Langworthy area of Salford.

Covid-19 has brought on challenges to us all, one of which being the chance to socialise safely, take part in activities, and engage with our communities. We have been lucky at our centre to be able to continue to offer a range of safe outdoor activities this summer. We have seen the huge positive impact our centre and activities has had on individuals, families and friends by being able to take part in activities on the water this year for some safe, socially distanced watersports.

As we know the benefits being on the water brings to people, we have teamed up with the Royal Yachting Association and Sport England to deliver FREE Dinghy Sailing taster sessions, to community groups, clubs, and charities operating in the Ordsall & Langworthy area of Salford.

We are offering FREE 2-hour Dinghy Sailing taster sessions for up to 5 people. Offering your group, a unique opportunity to experience the quays from on the water whilst trying out a new activity. Sailing and being on the water can be incredibly beneficial to your health and wellbeing, from increased fitness levels to stress reduction.

We will provide the majority of the kit you need. As this project is running during the winter months, we are providing some extra winter kit to ensure you are comfortable in cooler temperatures.

What we provide:

  • Winter sailing kit, wetsuit, gloves and wetsuit boots etc.
  • Qualified Sailing Instructors
  • Quality Equipment
  • Socially distanced activity with Covid measures in place.

What you’ll need to bring:

  • Clothes that can go under a wetsuit, so anything you would normally go swimming in.
  • If you have one, a rash vest or swimming top for under a wetsuit. This will provide an extra layer of warmth; however, this is not essential.
  • A towel
  • Some warm clothes to change back in to after the session

At the time of writing this, the centre is currently closed due to the national November Lockdown. All being well, the centre plans to reopen following the lifting of this lockdown and these sessions will start to commence through to March.

Spaces are limited, if you would like to register your interest please fill in the below form. A member of our team will be in touch following the lifting of lockdown and we have assessed any restrictions in place.
