Get started with open water swimming at Salford Quays. Our beginner-friendly Intro to Open Water Swimming session will teach you everything you need to swim safely and confidently outdoors.

This session is perfect for swimmers who want to try open water swimming, either before the regular season ends or to get ready for early events next year. It’s also great for those interested in learning more about cold water (winter) swimming.

No wetsuit? No problem, we include use of our hire wetsuits free of charge for the intro session. Wetsuits are optional.

  3. Tow Floats are COMPULSORY until water temperatures reach 14 degrees (typically late May to early June). We have a few spare ones but they are on a first come first serve basis.
  4. Warm layers for after your swim to help you warm up.
  5. Neoprene gloves and socks are highly recommended for comfort and warmth in colder water.
