This is your chance to get qualified, get on the water, and be part of the team at Salford Watersports Centre in 2026.

We’re launching a Trainee Scheme and we’re looking for people who want more than just a summer job. Train with us, qualify with us, and work with us through the season at Dock 8, Salford Quays.

No formal watersports qualifications needed. We’ll provide all the training. What we need is the right attitude and a genuine interest in getting stuck in.

We’re looking for up to 8 trainees to join us this year.

We have two pathways you can join us on:

Paddlesport Instructor Trainee

Train to become a qualified paddlesports instructor and deliver coaching to schools, community groups and members of the public. You’ll complete the Paddlesport Instructor Award (4 days of formal training plus on-site preparation), RYA Powerboat Level 2 and RLSS Open Water Lifeguard.

Only 6 spaces are available on the Paddlesport Instructor course

Safety and swim staff

Get qualified as an RLSS Open Water Lifeguard and train in RYA Powerboat Level 2, all delivered in-house at the centre. You’ll supervise open water swimming sessions and support the wider watersports programme alongside our team.

Combined roles are available for the right candidates.


Who we’re looking for:

  • You don’t need to be an expert or have any qualifications.
  • Over 17yrs
  • Some experience in sport or leisure helps.
  • You’ll need to be available May to September, happy working outdoors in all weathers, and the kind of person who gets stuck in and works well with others.
