Unfortunately, with the current situation rapidly developing, the centre, alongside other SCL leisure centres will be closing for the foreseeable future. We’re not sure how long this closure will be but pleased be assured we will keep you all updated and if you have any bookings with us in the next few weeks we will be in touch as soon as possible.

This is not an easy decision but yours, our teams and the community’s health and well-being is the most important thing.

It’s important that throughout this period we all keep as physically and mentally active as we possibly can, there’s lots of resources available out there, we know the fantastic fitness instructors at Salford Community Leisure& Aspire Unlimitedare trying to engage with as many of you at home, so please give them a follow.

For local advice please follow Ordsall and Langworthy and Salford City Council for the latest updates.

Feel free to keep in touch if you are isolating to let us know how you are passing the time, send us a picture on our facebook page!

So what are we going to do with our time?

We’re going to use this time to work on ourselves as a team and a centre, learn new skills and try and improve everything we do.

We’re also setting aside 1 hour out of our working day throughout this period to try and learn a very important communication tool:

British Sign Language.

Some of our team will be doing the BSL online course and we are going to link up and test ourselves throughout thanks to the magic of Skype.

Communication skills are vital in every walk of life, especially with what we do. From teaching adults to kayak to teaching children how to climb, we want to ensure that everybody has an equality opportunity to learn. With an estimated 11 million people in the UK that suffers from some form of hearing loss, learning BSL could make a huge difference to people’s lives.

Here’s our first message from the team, to say that everything will be ok 👌🏼 We’ll let you know how we get on! Ps this is the emoji sign, we have a lot to learn but we can’t wait to get started!

Stay safe and look after one another in this difficult time, and we hope to see you all in the not so distant future.

Please email us at watersportscentre@scll.co.uk or message on Facebook if you have any questions during this time.
