This fun, exciting club aims to get children aged 8-16 years learning how to sail, develop skills and encourage them through the RYA Stages and NGB qualifications. We offer tailored sessions, from basic to advanced racing techniques, plus trips and events including socials and racing at other clubs.

What is Salford Junior Sailing Club all about?

Salford Junior Sailing Club is all about getting out on the water and learning all about sailing while also having as much fun as possible. Whether you are a beginner or a keen dinghy racer we have something for you!

Who is it for?

Salford Junior Sailing Club is designed for children aged between 8 and 16. Whether you have only just achieved your Stage 1 or you are working towards your next Advanced module we have some something for everyone.

When do sessions take place and where?

All sessions take place on-site at the Watersports Centre, over the summer spring and summer months we run sessions on Friday evenings from 6pm-8pm. We also do offer sessions over the colder months but these are all weather dependant. We do offer further training which can consist of away days to experience sailing at other locations like Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club for extra advanced training, as well as extra advanced training we also try to attend as many racing events around the North West for those wanting to experience the racing scene or to try it for the first time. In the past we have offered a residential trip every summer for 5 days which has been a great success with our regular sailing club members. The last trip we ran was to UKSA on the Isle Of Wight which was a great success.

How much do sessions cost and how to get involved?

It’s really easy to get involved, all you need to get involved is at least a Stage 1 and then you can come down and get involved. To book onto a session all you need to do is purchase a sailing club membership which is £10 for the year and then it’s £7 per session, or buy a block of 6 sessions for the price of 5.
