Sailing and Windsurfing

Here at the Helly Hansen Watersports Centre we offer a variety of courses for both adults and children, whether you are a complete beginner, or have been sailing or windsurfing for years and would like a qualification.

We have a variety of boats available from single-handed RS Tera’s, RS Quba’s and Optimists, and double-handed RS Feva’s and Laser Stratos Keel’s.

Adult Sailing (16yrs)+:

For our adult courses, you can either book onto our double-handed or single-handed.
course. Both qualifications are the same, it’s simply down to your preference of boat type, double-handed is delivered in our Lasor Stratos which is a bigger boat in which you’ll be part of a crew (crewed sailing).

We offer the following sailing opportunities for adults:

• Learn to Sail (Taster)
• RYA Adult Level 1 – Start Sailing
• RYA Adult Level 2 – Basic Skills
• RYA Adult Level 3 – Better Sailing (Only offered as 1:1 tuition)
• 1-1 tuition and 2-1 tuition

Junior Sailing (8yrs – 16yrs):

Our Junior courses run mainly during the school holidays at Easter, Summer, and October half-term. However, if you are eager to get involved in this awesome sport, we have the friendly junior club, where you will also work through the stages up to the RYA Start Racing syllabus. During the summer this club operates every Friday evening from 6pm-8pm. For winter club training dates, please contact the centre. We are proud to be part of the RYA OnBoard Programme.

We offer the following courses for Juniors:

• Youth Sailing Stage 1
• Youth Sailing Stage 2
• Youth Sailing Stage 3
• Junior Sailing Club
• 1-1 tuition and 2-1 tuition

Adult Windsurfing Sessions and Courses:

If you are looking to start windsurfing you can book onto one of our courses or book one-to-one tuition. Our instructors will teach you the skills needed to get afloat and engaged with this awesome sport!
