Join us on Thursday evenings as we switch our lights on and head out on the water for a tour of Salford Quays by night. Put on your neon, bring you glow sticks and head torches as we paddle under the city lights. It really is quite a spectacular place to paddle at night, as we head along the canals and under the illuminated bridges and tall buildings surrounding the Quays.
We will alternate each week which craft we use for the tours to cater for as many people as possible….
Katakanus – Seat upto 6 people and require at least 2 adults in each boat. Aimed at the younger families or those looking for a nice relaxing paddle where you are unlikely to get wet other than a bit of spray. (smaller groups maybe mixed to fill a boat, book all 6 places if you want exclusive use of your boat). Minimum age is 6 years old, under 16s must be accompanied on the water with an adult. To book, press the red ‘book now’ button, or press here
Stand Up Paddleboards & Kayaks – Aimed at those with prior experience. Due to the distance we hope to travel around the Quays and the need to stay together as a group due to the dark nights, these sessions are not recommended for complete beginners. You really need to be able to stand up on a board, or be able to comfortably paddle on your knees. If this isn’t you but want to participate, then we recommend booking a Katakanu, or come on our Saturday hire sessions for a practice first. Minimum age is 12 years old, those aged 16 or under must be accompanied on the water by an adult. An Adult over the age of 18. An Adult can accompany upto 2 children. To book, press the red ‘book now’ button, or press here
Please aim to arrive 20 minutes before to enable you to get ready and make sure we can set off on time. The tour can’t wait if you are late.
What to bring:
Katakanu sessions- Warm clothes, waterproof jacket and trousers are recommended, as well as wellies or shoes that can get wet
Stand Up Paddleboards & Kayaks – your usual Watersports gear (wetsuits are available to hire), shoes that can get wet, we also recommend a hoodie or fleece, plus a water proof jacket that can all get wet if you fall in, but keep you warmer if you don’t fall in!
